Color Adjustments

I was trying to capture a nice sunset on this day but it was too hazy and the sun wasn't setting yet so the picture came out quite blah. I did some color adjustments to try to make a pretty sky.

I've been spending the last two days at the hospital while my father had open heart surgery. When we were able to go in and visit him as he was waking, I couldn't pass up this moment. I ended up using just my phone camera for this shot but I thought it really captured the love between my parents. What the photo can't tell is that even in my dad's medicated haze and while still intubated, he lifted his hand so that he could hold my mother's hand better. Not much of a color change but I went to black and white and used the vignette technique to blur the background more.

  1. Very nice and touching photo of your parents. I like what you've done with the background of both photos. It's amazing what these programs can do to, in your words, "blah" photos. The purple was a nice color choice and the photo seems equally divided and the barn placed using the rule of thirds.

  2. The sky colors are beautiful. I love what you did with the hand photos, desaturating and cropping really put the emphasis on the hands and the love in the relationship.

Wishing your father a swift recovery.

  3. I love the photo of your parents. The way you cropped it works well to put even more focus on the focus point of the two hands. The black and white coloring also works very well in this picture.

  4. Aww I absolutely adore the second image in black and white..the most! I feel b&w make so many details kind of pop.. makes the image seem more alive.. you can def feel the connection on the focusing point (the hands). I love it! Nice job!!!
